Tonight I will be going back into the pottery studio to do some plates and then work on a few larger vases that I am hoping will be done in time for my university’s art show. While studying abroad, I was able to observe some very inspirational art forms in person. The one thing I noticed was that many of the vases from ancient times were BIG.
I received a very large order for a set of twelve large and small plates, large and small bowls, mugs and a few serving pieces. Making them shouldn’t be much of a problem. I’m just having difficulty matching the results of a matte yellow/gold glaze with a reduction-fired cone 10 kiln. The pieces were wood-fired or fired in oxidation, and I just don’t have that type of kiln environment. Lots of searching and lots of research. I will post more when they’re finished.
